Job Description:
ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acute-care
facilities in the region. Our 794-bed hospital is staffed by more

This position is responsible for helping to maintain a clean,
sanitary and orderly environment within the facility by
implementing proper cleaning techniques, leveraging powered
equipment, moving furniture, and transporting trash. The position
is responsible for completing specific project work requiring the
use of powered equipment which EVS technician employees are not
trained or authorized to operate. The Floor Technician will conduct
floor refinishing, provide disaster response, and transport beds to
patient units. The position is responsible for the routine
maintenance of and troubleshooting minor problems with the powered
equipment. This position will also serve to fill in for other work
assignments as needed.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Utilizes powered equipment (such as carpet extractor, floor
scrubber, floor burnisher, wet vac, power washer, steamer, etc.) to
complete project work as assigned by the supervisor.
2. Spot cleans, machine scrubs, extracts, and vacuums carpet
through the use of specified power equipment.
3. Refinishes/reconditions hard-surface flooring to include
top-scrub, stripping, waxing, burnishing.
4. Cleans stairwells and elevator cabins.
5. Transfers department supplies from pallets to EVS stockroom
shelves.
6. Delivers and operates FASS unit (ozone machine) to designated
rooms.
7. Maintains all powered equipment to ensure reliability and long
life of the equipment. This will include tasks such as charging
batteries, cleaning filters, draining and rinsing tanks, washing
pads, placing equipment in designated storage locations.
8. Responds to emergency situations where powered equipment or deep
cleaning is needed. Completes post-construction terminal
cleans.
9. Completes post-construction terminal cleanups.
10. Exchanges mattresses, beds, furniture, and equipment as needed.
Clears elevator alcoves and hallways of excess clutter.
11. Cleans designated items within assigned area which may include
stairs, elevators, janitor closets, janitor sinks, lights, vents,
sprinkler heads, windows, blinds, and more.
12. Maintains privacy curtains, which includes exchanging soiled
curtains and replacing broken curtain hooks.
13. Steam-cleans areas to treat for infestation of bed bugs or
other pests.
14. Functions as Environmental Specialist I, Hazardous Waster
Transporter, and Major Mover as needed.Must be able to move about
the hospital campus and between workstations while representing the
department in a positive manner through appropriate communication
and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to follow direction, but also work independently,
making good use of one's time and resources.
Required to work with pagers, mops, mop bucket/wringers, flatbed
dollies, vacuums, putty knives, and all department powered
equipment.
Must be able to tolerate unpleasant odors and possible exposure to
communicable diseases and bodily fluids; must be able to tolerate
exposure to dust, cleaning chemicals, and sewage.
Must be able to move constantly throughout shift, lift or carry and
otherwise transport equipment, furniture, etc.
Must be fitted for and able to wear CAPR hood.
Performs other duties as instructed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Age: At least 16 years of age. Please Note: employees under the age
of 18 will be scheduled in accordance to state labor laws.
Skills: Experience operating auto-scrubber, side by side floor
scrubber, floor burnisher, and carper extractor; must have a
mechanical aptitude. Experience stripping, waxing, reconditioning
of hard-surface flooring.
Years of Experience: 1 year of experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma
Skills: Experience working and cleaning within a hospital or
healthcare environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Personal Protective Equipment: Gloves, gown, safety glasses,
non-slip shoes, CAPR
Physical Demands: 8 hours per day standing with frequent bending,
squatting, kneeling, and climbing
