Position Description - Welder Apprentice, Night Shift, QSC



Company: Quality Steel Corporation

Reports to: Department Supervisor/Manager




We are looking for entry-level welder trainees who would like to learn to weld on our night shift, 10pm - 6:30 am. You will attend 2 weeks of welder training on site under the direction of a certified Welder. As an Apprentice you will be introduced to various types of welding equipment, Safety and Quality expectations, Production standards, and develop the welding techniques needed to excel in a career of welding.



Key Responsibilities:

• 
  
• Ensure Safety First, Safety Always in all work performed.
  
• Train with qualified Welders to safely operate weld machines, perform proper welds, and identify/repair weld defects, etc.
  
• Assist welders as needed in the performance of daily operational tasks.
  
• Maintain cleanliness of workstation.
  
  
  
  
  Experience:
  
  
  • 
    
  • Minimum of one year manufacturing experience, preferred but not required.
    
    
    
    
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    
    
    • 
      
    • Ability and willingness to learn and receive instruction from qualified Welder.
      
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
      
    • Ability to work in various environmental conditions (heat, humidity, cold).
      
    • Ability to perform repetitive operations.
      
    • Knowledge of welding and metal properties.
      
    • Ability to safely lift/move up to 60 lbs.
      
    • Ability to record data accurately and in timely manner.
      
    • Ability to work collaboratively with team members to accomplish departmental goals and improve operations.
      
      
      
      
      
      
      Education and Certification Qualifications:
      
      
      • 
        
      • High School Diploma or GED
        
      • Successful completion of QSC's Welder's Apprenticeship Program
