ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified Intervention
Specialist at Monroe Preparatory Academy located in Sandusky, Ohio.
The Intervention Specialist plans for and supports the educational,
behavioral, and social needs of the entire school community with a
focus on student eligible for special education and related
services.Founded in 2014, ACCEL Schools is a K-12 public charter
school management organization (CMO) across the United States. We
manage a network of over 50 charter schools within Ohio and
surrounding states. Monroe Preparatory Academy, located on a safe
and secure historic downtown campus, is the first tuition-free
public charter school to open in the Sandusky area. Highly rated by
the Ohio Department of Education, the elementary and middle school
provides a standards-based curriculum enriched with education
technology to accelerate student learning and readiness. A caring
and qualified staff values high expectations for academics and
behavior and develops well-rounded individuals who are
intrinsically motivated to be lifelong learners. The school
observes an extended school day and supports students' academic,
social, and emotional growth through sports and extracurricular
activities including field trips to Sandusky Playhouse, Sandusky
Greenhouse, and Toledo Mud Hens baseball games. Accredited by
Cognia , Monroe Preparatory Academy participates in ongoing,
third-party review, continually evaluating how best to meet the
needs of all students.Responsibilities:Assists children with
special education and related service needs in classrooms and other
settings based on the continuum of servicesActs as a resource for
training and implementation of intervention strategiesConduct
functional behavior assessments and diagnostic assessments for
instructionWrite and implement behavior improvement plansFacilitate
IEP meetings and informs staff of their responsibilities for each
IEPWork cooperatively with classroom teachers to assist them with
delivery of any accommodations and modificationsDevelop IEP goals
and objectivesProgress monitor and report all IEP goals and
objectiveDevelop and implements Specially Designed Instruction
(SDI)Ensure all Special Education timelines and documents comply
with Operating Standards and IDEADifferentiate instruction to meet
the needs of all studentsMaintain accurate and complete records of
students' progress and developmentUtilize research-based best
practices in daily planning and classroom instructionCommunicate
and meet with families regarding the academic and social-emotional
growth of their child as well as their IEP progressUtilize school
approved curricula that reflects the diverse educational, cultural,
and linguistic backgrounds of the studentsImplement school-wide
culture expectations and normsCollaborate and communicate
effectively with colleaguesPerform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:Active and current state Intervention Specialist
licenseBachelor's degree in special educationHigh level of comfort
working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent
observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress
monitoringExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility
to properly manage confidential informationAble to supervise
students of various ages in different school settings (playground,
cafeteria, etc.)Ability to pass federal and state criminal
background checksExperience working within an urban
