This position is integral to the development, communication and
accuracy of statistical and financial information used in
decision-making. Supervision of a variety of financial duties and
responsibilities that support data collection, analyses, report
development, periodic audits and the monthly financial closing
process. Responsible for overseeing monthly financial statements
produced in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles. Plays a key role in strategic planning for the
department and initiates improvement of the corporate finance
function through process optimization, technology, and
organizational effectiveness. Works within the framework of the
ProMedica Health System culture to nuture and cultivate synergies
inside and outside area of responsibilities. Collaborates with
other departments and leaders to create solutions-based
alternatives. Establishes an environment that will embrace and
sustain change and growth for the future.
Direct all aspects of the corporate accounting including, but
not limited to: Cash, Corporate Cost allocations, Unclaimed Funds
reporting, Inter-company balances and corporate entities (including
Foundations) journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis,
feasibility analysis and technical memorandum.
Directs all aspects of the annual financial statement audits
including liason with auditors, assignment and coordination of work
tasks for staff and timetable management.
Develops and nurtures technical expertise necessary to
proactively assess and implement new standards. Manage and develop
staff to achieve subject matter expert status for appropriate
technical matters. Supervise research and resolution of business
unit inquiries for assigned functional areas.
Implement and maintain a positive, cooperative and supportive
team culture within Corporate Finance area.
Mentor and motivate team to achieve client satisfaction of
supported business units. Develop teams professionally with
employee performance reviews and staff development plans. Instills
in the team a sense of pride, ownership and accountability in their
work. Gives employees sufficient authority to make the necessary
decisions to carry out their assignments.
Analyzes reports and records, makes studies or recommendations
relative to the determination of Indemnity and Self-insurance
reserves in accordance with GAAP. Develop and ensure efficient and
equitable allocation of costs associated with Indemnity and
Oversee Fixed Asset accounting. Establish and ensure System
capitalization policy and procedures are defined and consistently
applied and are being reported in accordance with GAAP. Communicate
the policies and procedures to internal and external contacts.
Lead or manage projects related to finance improvement including
coordination with other non-finance departments.
Prepare, manage, and maintain department budget and goals.
Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree
Healthcare or non-profit industry experience.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and tasks.
Ability to generate bold, creative ideas to improve
Demonstrated leadership qualities
Years of Experience: 8-10 years
Masters Degree preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
