Job Description:

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION The Radiation Therapy Therapist - System Administrator is responsible for Radiation Therapist duties (the administration of radiation therapy services and monitoring patient's reactions) and oversees Radiation Therapy Electronic Medical Record System(s) integration and use (including Aria, Clinisync, Cerner, and other software applications for use by the Radiation Therapy Department). Armes Family Cancer Care Center is a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, which provides a total continuum of care to more than 100,000 households in an eight-county area. The Blanchard Valley Health System mission is to provide "Caring for a lifetime.' JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Duty 1: The radiation therapist schedules patients in an efficient manner to accommodate patients, physicians and staffing schedules. Duty 2: The radiation therapist delivers prescribed planned course of radiation therapy accurately to patients for control of disease process. Duty 3: The radiation therapist charts treatment records and billing accurately and timely to provide information daily in compliance with state and BVRCC policy and provide quality care. Duty 4: The radiation therapist notifies physicians regarding patient care concerns promptly and allows no misunderstanding from missed communications. Duty 5: The radiation therapist completes daily assignments and prepares for the next day efficiently and timely to keep department flow organized and patients satisfied. Duty 6: The radiation therapist monitors supplies and equipment continually to offset adverse impact of potential situations dealing with supply and or equipment failure. Duty 7: The radiation therapist observes radiation safety measures properly for patients and personnel in order to meet state requirements and department safe operating procedures. Duty 8: The radiation therapist ensures correct CPT codes (Current Procedural Terminology) are being charged and correct encounter type is registered. Duty 9: The Radiation Therapy System Administrator (RTSA) serves as a liaison for Providers and Radiation Therapy Clinical Professionals to the BVHS Information Technology department to translate needs and wants within their workflows that will impact the Electronic Medical Record System(s). Duty 10: The RTSA researches best practices within the Electronic Medical Record System(s), in coordination with the BVHS Information Technology department and presents recommendations back to end users. Duty 11: The RTSA supports organizational IT testing events. Duty 12: The RTSA provides/develops education and standard work for associates related to new processes and EMR system functionality. Duty 13: The RTSA is out where the work is done, engaging with the end users, super users, and support analysts. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed by the state of Ohio as a Radiation Therapist (ODH)
  • A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver's license you must obtain one within 30 days of your residency in the state). - You must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy and insurance company requirements, and any other requirements that may be required to operate a vehicle.
  • Ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.
  • Experience in creating project documentation (will provide training)
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and express ideas clearly both verbally and in writing in non-technical terms for users at all levels and in technical terms for most hardware/software technicians
  • Demonstrated customer relations skills and technical abilities including the ability to analyze complex software problems and develop technical or procedural solutions to those problems
  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare workflows and processes and the ability to use existing resources creatively for problem resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to focus detailed concentrated effort to multiple projects and re-establish priorities as necessary. Ability to effectively respond to time-sensitive issues and meet deadlines.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department.
  • The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status. -
  • Must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree in business or specialty related technical or healthcare field
    • One to two years related work experience PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting and standing. This associate will be required to sit for one hour a day and stand for seven hours a day. The individual must be able to lift fifty to seventy-five pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination, fine finger dexterity and excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. ***This position is classified "at risk" for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
