Human Resources serves as a true business partner, actively engaged
in working with our business leaders to grow our business and win
with our customers. The Human Resources Development Program (HRDP)
is designed to recruit, develop and retain high potential bachelor
and masters' graduates who possess the skills, aspiration and
mobility to develop into Human Resource Leaders with Owens Corning.
The program consists of three intense rotational assignments within
the Human Resources function lasting 9-12 months each. The
rotations provide the participants the opportunity to work in all
facets of the HR organization and develop relationships with senior
HR leaders at every juncture. Each rotation will provide a
different set of learning and developmental opportunities and will
be in at least two of the following areas: Manufacturing, Corporate
Business Unit, and Center for Excellence Organizations.
TheMANUFACTURINGassignment will provide the opportunity to gain a
broad understanding of an Owens Corning plant operation. Specific
learning objectives include understanding manufacturing technology,
products and processes, interrelationships among various processes
and functions, demonstrating leadership and supervisory skills, and
becoming familiar with key day to day issues in safety, benefits,
labor relations, talent acquisition, productivity, compensation and
community relations. Examples of assignments in this area include
labor and/or employee relations, review, and interpretation of
plant policies, building operations capable of recruiting talent.
This assignment will be located at one of Owens Corning's various
manufacturing facilities in the United States.
TheBUSINESS UNITassignment will provide a strong understanding of
how the HR business unit activities are performed in the Corporate
Headquarters, and are generally located in Toledo or Granville, OH.
Specific learning objectives include in depth familiarity with OC
products, markets, customers and the value chain; understanding
interrelationships among various processes and functions;
demonstrating leadership and supervisory skills, and becoming
familiar with key strategic issues in safety, benefits, employee
relations, talent acquisition, productivity and
compensation.Examples of assignments in this area include HR
support of corporate client groups, coordinating benchmarking
projects, hiring new talent, or implementing other talent
strategies.
TheCENTER OF EXCELLENCEopportunity will provide deep specialty
knowledge in such areas as Compensation, Benefits, HR Systems,
Talent Acquisition, Leadership Development, or Talent Management,
and will be in Toledo, OH. Learning objectives include in-depth
knowledge and skill development in the process area; broad,
corporate wide perspective; exposure/visibility with a cross
section of OC senior leaders; and involvement with strategic and
corporate-wide issues. Examples of assignments include support of
the employee engagement activities, talent acquisition, developing
training content, compensation and benefits analysis or support of
the integration of all HR processes.
While in the Program, candidates will be assigned a senior leader
and a peer mentor for on-going development and will be encouraged
to continue formal learning in a variety of ways, as you create
your individual development plan and career goals. You will also
have a cohort of colleagues to learn from and develop relationships
with. You and your leaders will create a learning plan for each
rotation and you will be guided through each role and
supported.
After the participant has completed the rotational program,
opportunities such as HR generalist at a larger facility, an HR
leader at a smaller manufacturing facility and key leader positions
as a specialist in compensation, benefits, leadership development,
talent acquisition or talent management are available.
Cross-functional moves are also encouraged to learn about Owens
Corning and other functions.
SELECTION CRITERIA
EDUCATION
Bachelor's or master's degree in a business program is strongly
preferred. Majors can include Human Resources, Organizational
Development, Business Administration, Economics, or similar
programs.
LOCATION OF ASSIGNMENT
World Headquarters in Toledo, Ohio, and various manufacturing
facilities in the United States.
