Overview:
The internship program experience combines Cedar Point's business
needs with college level internship requirements. As an intern, you
will have the opportunity to grow and learn in the hospitality and
amusement park tourism industry through hands-on exposure to
day-to-day operational tasks within your assigned Division. You
will be responsible for providing excellent guest service and
utilizing leadership skills while collaborating on group projects
to ensure a successful operation. Responsibilities:
All Food and Beverage interns are required to complete ServSafe
Food Protection Manager and ServSafe Alcohol as part of internship
program. Course Key and Testing provided upon arrival. -
- Catering - Group Sales and Special Events Management -
Preferred Majors: Event Planning, Hospitality, Business,
Operations, Marketing, Food Science. Applicants are responsible for
the supervision of the Food and Beverage Catering operation,
through planning, event set-up, and execution. Ideal candidate can
train, motivate, direct, and coach a team of 50+ associates as well
as monitor financials such as food cost, labor cost, and inventory.
Other duties include generating weekly banquets event orders,
schedules, and placement lists. -
- Culinary Arts Internship - Preferred Majors: Food Science,
Culinary, Hospitality. Culinary Arts students will work in multiple
kitchens varying in size, style, and complexity. They will be
coached and mentored by restaurant managers and Chefs to execute at
a high level. Ideal candidates would possess a passion for fine
foods & desserts, a willingness to learn, -professionalism, and a
commitment to the full term of the Internship. This experience will
expose the student to all aspects of kitchen operations as they
work through all stations and positions. There will be exposure to
kitchen management and oversight including but not limited to
safety & sanitation, inventory & product management, scheduling &
staffing, and menu engineering & -costing. - - -
- Department Analyst - Preferred Majors: Finance and Accounting.
- Applicants are responsible for monitoring revenue and loss
prevention for the Food & Beverage and draft daily financial and
forecast reports for the Food and Beverage Executives and
Management team. Intern works closely with Finance, Revenue &
Accounting, Cash Control, and Loss Prevention management team to
ensure company assets are protected and proper protocol is
followed.------Able to work as a member of a small team and
independently without constant direct supervision. -
- Education/Training Internship - Preferred Majors: Business
Administration, Communication, Education, Human Resources, Data
Entry, Operations Applicants are responsible for leading the Food
and Beverage classroom orientation program, including Food and
Beverage Orientation, hands-on POS training, PPE compliance
training and Safety & Sanitation Training. Interns also maintain
responsibility for ensuring State, Local and Company compliance on
all training documentation and necessary equipment are current and
will create databases for management and executive use to ensure
compliance is met division wide. You will gain experience in public
speaking, data entry, information systems, and customer service.
Other responsibilities include assisting the Food and Beverage
Front office team, if necessary. -
- Food and Beverage Payroll, Compliance, and HR - Preferred
Majors: Human Resources, Food Science, Business Management,
Operations, Communications, Data Entry Applicants are responsible
for oversight of the staff management functions of the Food and
Beverage Division, including hiring, staffing, orientation,
training, coaching, counseling, scheduling, payroll, labor law
compliance, incentives, recruiting, and other associate management
functions. You will gain knowledge and experience in a variety of
HRIS systems, compliance functions, and the BridgeUSA J-1 Visa
program. Advanced excel experience a plus. -
- Food Safety and Sanitation Auditor - Preferred Major: Food
Science. Applicants gain knowledge of State, Local and Company
guidelines regarding restaurant safety and sanitation requirements.
Interns are required to complete safety & sanitation inspections on
all in-park food locations and compile reports for management and
company executives. They will also work closely with respective
management to determine critical control points and complete
corrective actions for violations. The candidate will also assist
in instructing divisional training classes, including Food and
Beverage Orientation and Micros Training. Basic knowledge of state
food health guidelines is necessary, a strong knowledge of food
health and safety practices are a plus. -
- Full-Service Restaurant Operations Management - Preferred
Majors: Business Management, Food Science, Hospitality. Applicants
gain hands-on experience assisting in the oversight of one of our
full-service restaurants: Melt Bar & Grilled and Chickie's &
Pete's. Ideal candidates possess the ability to train, direct and
motivate associates to achieve divisional goals. Training is
provided to ensure a well-rounded understanding of both Front of
House and Back of House operations. Other responsibilities include
maintaining appropriate cost and labor levels, completing
inventory, ordering, maintaining cleanliness of work location,
guest service focus and additional duties assigned by management. -
- Pastry Arts Internship - Preferred Majors: Food Science,
Culinary, Hospitality. Pastry Arts students will work under the
direction of Cedar Point's Pastry Chef in the state-of-the-art
Pastry kitchen. They will learn all aspects of baking & pastry
operations ranging from small to very large scale throughout Cedar
Point's properties. Pastry students will develop necessary baking
skills like proper weights & measures, breads, quick breads,
pastries & other desserts. They can expect to learn safety &
sanitation, inventory & product management, staffing, distribution,
and production management. Ideal candidates would possess a passion
for fine foods & desserts, a willingness to learn,
-professionalism, and a commitment to the full term of the
Internship. - - -
- Quick Service Restaurant Operations Management - Preferred
Majors: Business Management, Food Science, Hospitality. Applicants
gain hands-on experience assisting in the oversight of one or more
avenues of our quick-service operations, including crew-serve, food
stands, or associate dining. Ideal candidates possess the ability
to train, direct and motivate associates to achieve divisional
goals. Training is provided to ensure a well-rounded understanding
of both Front of House and Back of House operations. Other
responsibilities include maintaining appropriate cost and labor
levels, completing inventory, ordering, maintaining cleanliness of
work location, guest service focus and additional duties assigned
by management. -
- Supply Chain Management - Preferred Majors: Supply Chain
Management and Operations Management. Applicants are responsible
for leading the Food and Beverage Warehouse team. Candidates will
complete the following: organization of daily tasks amongst team,
scheduling, order management, forecasting supplies and utilizing
the Food and Beverage inventory management software. Applicants
will also maintain responsibility for warehouse inventory
management including physical counts, park-wide variance reporting
and finalizing inventories for all Food and Beverage locations.
Previous data entry and logistics experience a plus.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be attending an accredited college or university within
the United States
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet
business needs
- Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company
policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law
- Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or
older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal,
DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per
Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial
law
