Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Fort Wayne, Indiana,
46845! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty:
Central Registry - Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7pm-7am Hours
per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years in Level 1, Level 2,
or tertiary experience; at least 1 year of experience in a large
facility (600 beds) License: Indiana RN license or compact license
(as of 7/1/20) required Certifications: BLS through AHA required
Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level
2, or tertiary experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of
MedSurg experience in a large hospital with over 600 beds.
Description: This position involves caring for a diverse population
of patients with varying diagnoses. Patients may have chronic
illnesses such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease.
The role includes managing GI issues, infections, neurological
issues, and mental health disorders. Nurses may care for patients
undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis,
bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General medical-surgical nursing
care is required along with skills in assessments and care
planning. Inter-professional communication and utilization of the
electronic health record (EHR) are essential. The nurse will manage
IV therapy, including heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, and
feeding tubes. Equipment used includes electronic records,
medication dispensing machines, telemetry monitoring, and other
medical devices. Patient ratios are generally 1:5-6. There will be
floating to other medical units as needed. Candidates must complete
a nursing orientation that includes training on electronic record
systems. Three weekend shifts are required within a four-week
