  • Patient Diagnoses: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Carotid endarterectomy, Distal Bypass, Sepsis, Trauma, Bowel Perforation, Arterial Thrombosis, Pulmonary embolism, Free flap for oral/facial/pharyngeal reconstruction
  • Special Procedures/Unit Details: Level 1 Trauma facility, dedicated trauma ICU unit with TNCC or TCAR certification, NIH stroke certification, Resident physician in unit coverage 24/7
  • Special Equipment: Nx-Stage- CRRT, Belmont rapid infuser, Hot line fluid warmer, Artic Sun- for targeted temperature management, EKOS
  • Work Settings: Surgical Intensive Care Unit
  • Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response: Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias
  • Endocrine/Metabolic: IV insulin protocols
  • IV therapy: Accessing Ports, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, PICC line management, Starting IVs
  • MEDICATIONS: Continuous IV sedation, Procedural Sedation Administration, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips
  • Neurological: CVA/Acute Stroke management
  • Respiratory/Thoracic: Care of Ventilated Patient, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Professional Topics and Skills: Infection Prevention, Isolation Precautions/ Use of PPE, Phlebotomy, Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac
