Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the coordination, planning, implementation of care
for the oncology patients. Provide leadership support for all
departments and serves as a communication link between department
leadership and all employees and physicians. To function as
department senior leadership in the absence of the Director.
ACCOUNTABILITIES -
1. Provides oversight to unit operations. Assess unit activity
needs and concerns issues, needs, -events with staff. Provides
leadership and oversight to staff in the deliverance of the
patient's plan of care and resolution of issues/concerns. Serves as
a resource for the nursing staff.
2. Serves as a liaison between all other hospital departments.
-Serves as a resource person for - -staff, leadership, and
physicians.
3. Assists in the improvement of patient satisfaction to include
achieving and maintaining all publicly -reported data. Guides staff
in setting appropriate goals to exceed patient/family expectations.
Leads through role modeling, scripting, error prevention techniques
and evidence-based behaviors which drive patient satisfaction.
4. Maintains and oversees staffing schedule/needs and payroll
activities.
5. Assists with the development and implementation of special
projects that may include but are not limited to Joint Commission
preparation, Custom Reports, Policy and Procedure maintenance,
shared governance and maintaining the -application of the EMR.
6. Supervises and manages employee behaviors through utilization of
the coaching, mentoring and discipline process. -Actively
participates and contributes in the employee evaluation
process.
7. Assists director with the interviewing and hiring of staff for
the unit. -May participate in other interviewing processes as
requested.
8. Models and fosters positive employee relations. Creates an
environment in which teamwork is encouraged and fostered. -Responds
and recognizes timely regarding staff concerns and complaints.

9. Participates and conducts leadership round including staff and
patients/visitors routinely. -Identifies and collaborates with the
patient care team in resolving issues and concerns in a timely
manner. -Provides follow up through closed loop communications.

10. Other duties as assigned. -
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree in health science field,
preferentially in Nursing, or be able to obtain
within a 3-year time.
Skills: Chemotherapy infusion experience, central line care,
knowledge of care of oncology
patients, problem solving and organizational skills, interpersonal
skills, communication skills, input
and retrieve information from a computer, work independently and as
an integral member of
teams, understand direction and have a strong commitment to
customer satisfaction.
Years of Experience: Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in
specialty of oncology
License: Registered Nursing License for State of Ohio
Certification: OCN (or working towards)

Education: BSN
Skills: Previous leadership experience
