PURPOSE OF THE JOB Supporting Global Insulation Business facilities, the Quality Manager is accountable to ensure that quality products are being manufactured to meet or exceed our customer expectations. The Quality Manager is accountable to continuously improve the Quality Management Systems, drive defect elimination by working with the plants to improve the manufacturing process (provide clarity on root causes of defects that help determine what needs to be improved), and improve the quality of the end product and services rendered while contributing to safe and an increasingly cost efficient manufacturing. Systematically drive the organization's TPM implementation program, with the clear purpose of developing the capability and sustainability of the Quality Maintenance pillar. Reports to: Quality Leader, Insulation Operations Span of Control: Provides strategic Quality leadership, subject matter expertise and talent coaching for Insulation business segment and its multiple sites. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities * Ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment and building a safety culture of zero defects * Ensure that all control plans, work instructions, and other procedures related to the technical operation of the production lines identify and mitigate safety risks * Maintain focus on safety and continue a march to zero incidents * Build a culture where safety is a true condition of employment * Adhere to and continuously improve all safety policies, procedures, and standards Knowing our Customers * Define the Voice of the Customer (VOC) process including the product model of CFFU-CPC-CPV. Support and ensure the development and implementation of VOC process for all major Product Lines. * Ensure required Product Qualification and Early Management processes are followed to ensure CFFU is met with all changes. * Understand the Market by partnering with Product Managers, Product Engineers and Businesses Managers to communicate the current state of quality and the competitive landscape. Identify gaps to close and initiate/lead improvement teams. * Develop and implement procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. * Oversight and administration of the customer complaint process including working with customers for the resolution of quality issues, supporting and monitoring plant activities to achieve high quality and timely resolutions in close co-operation with the sales team and the customer, administering the complaint system (permissions, reporting, review of RCA process, etc.), and participating as a key member of the Level of Authority process. Driving for consistency in Operations * Analyze product and process data, provide feedback on performance and trends, and make recommendations to optimize performance * Support plants with TPM including QM activities, quality Focused Improvement events, defect elimination, CONQ reduction and operational consistency. * Subject matter expert of quality systems, process capability analysis and SPC. * Drive high quality through data analytics by defining and tracking measures of success and defining consistency metrics with a link to the manufacturing specification. Analyze data and identify opportunities from all scorecards including CONQ. * Support & facilitate the implementation of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for quality complaints and hold tags. Quality Management * Establish and drive Quality Management Standards (QMS) in all operations. Establish the relationship of QMS to TPM and integrate to one standard. Identify and champion required systems for success. * Perform internal audits and support the plant level integral audit process. Create Certification of Analysis (COA) process for external customers, as needed. * Support sourcing's supplier audit process at critical suppliers * Identify systems required for Quality that will eliminate wasted time pulling, cleansing, and analyzing data including Customer Complaint System, Management of Change, and Data Analytics. * Support the Business and S&T with maintaining and sustaining certifications (NAIMA, EU, CCMC, UL/ULC etc.) as relevant for the business conducted. Drive and manage ISO Certification. * Train and coach employees in Quality Management procedures. Partner with TPM Pillars to develop and implement plans for elimination of defects. * Maintain the skills matrix for Quality Assurance and Quality Maintenance. Identify and provide training for plant employees as related to Quality. Communications * Develop, communicate, and hold accountable expectations around Quality and TPM. * Act as a liaison between plants to drive defect elimination and improve processes by problem solving. * Act as an agent of positive change, continually raising the bar with the objective of improving and maintaining quality. JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Minimum of 5 years' experience with ensuring quality within a manufacturing or technical environment * Completed Bachelor's degree (Engineering discipline preferred) * Understanding of various processes and systems such as: Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and LPA (Layered Process Audits), Quality Management Systems, etc. * Previous experience in measuring process capability PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: * Working knowledge with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) or World Class Manufacturing Systems * Lean Certification or evidence of Lean Manufacturing experience (Six Sigma Black Belt preferred) * Previous experience engaging with customers and adhering to customer needs * Cross functional leadership experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: * ASQ or other Quality certification highly desired * Understands customer needs, product specifications, basic cost drivers and the Critical Process Variables (CPVs) that impact these elements * Knowledge of ISO9001:2015 standard and ability to audit for the requirements * Understands Six Sigma concepts including statistics, trial design, data analysis and control charting * Understands basic elements of a continuous operation including raw materials, processes, and control systems * LI-NM1 About Owens Corning Owens Corning is a global building and industrial materials leader.
