Job Purpose


Dana Incorporated's Power Technologies business unit provides engine sealing solutions for a variety of OEM customers around the world in the automotive, heavy-duty on and off highway, and specialty engine markets. Core sealing products are cylinder head gaskets and exhaust system gaskets. The application engineer, as the technical liaison between the customer and Dana, will implement and support customer requests for new products, product modifications, and field / development performance issues.



Additional expectations are to:

* Work with technical support groups and production facilities in the US and abroad to design, prototype, test, evaluate, and put into production sealing solutions in accordance with customer timelines and Dana standards.

* Be the driving force behind all customer related technical issue resolutions.

* Collaborate with support groups: CAD, CAE, Prototype Manufacturing, Mechanical test lab, Gasket Analysis Lab, Production Engineering, and the sales organization.

* Travel to customers as well as Dana's manufacturing facilities



The application engineer is responsible for:

* Prototype and production design approved print release

* All technical communications with customer engineering

* Driving the product design and launch process from concept through PPAP

* Support customer and Dana plants on technical issues and warranty for parts in production

* Presenting, through reports and presentations, program design proposals, test results, product performance analysis, and problem-solving results

* Designing products in accordance with Dana design standards in cooperation with production facilities

* Organized storage of technical data and communications

Education

  • 3 - 5 years' experience in engineering design and testing
    
  • Engine knowledge and previous experience with engine customers desirable
    
    
    
    
    Required Skills:
    
    
    • 
      
    • Ability to quickly understand and apply engineering concepts
      
    • Communicate technical concepts in a clear and concise manner, both written and oral.
      
    • Organizational skills for data storage and retrieval, program timing, communications
      
    • Understand the systems of the internal combustion engine (diesel, gasoline, and CNG)
      
    • Excellent customer relationship skills such as ability to listen, assert self, resolve conflicts, and work out customer's concerns.
      
    • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills through defined methods (8D, Six Sigma, etc.)
      
    • Self-initiative and decision-making
      
    • Proficient Microsoft Suite and web-based databases
      
    • Understand the results of FE structural and thermal analysis
      
    • Experience creating and using DFMEAs and DVPRs
      
    • Bonus - IATF-16949 familiarity (or ISO/TS-16949)
      
    • Bonus - Experience using Siemens NX CAD and Teamcenter PLM
