Job Description:
Position Summary:Provides clinical support on the nursing unit
and maintains a responsive communication system which supports
positive interdepartmental relations and physician support. Assists
in planning, organizing, implementing, and maintaining the
environment of the area.What You Will Do:Admit all permanent and
transient patients to the unit.Daily orders, labs installed, and
discharge papers.Assists patients and visitors in unit as
needed.Establish CMS dialysis forms including obtaining signatures
of nephrologists and patients.Audit reports and thin charts.Update
and maintain medical records for in-center patients in a neat,
organized, and professional manner.Keep hospitalizations,
procedures, diagnoses, and treatment history updated in patient
medical record.Assist social worker with complete indigent
waiver/payment agreement for patients without complete insurance
coverage and update as necessary.Assist patients in completing
forms, as needed.Maintain current file spend-down information for
Medicaid patients.Fax spend-down information to the county
caseworker monthly.Assist patients with travel arrangements or
transportation to dialysis unit including locating a unit, faxing
patient information to unit, and confirming travel
arrangements.Generate all monthly reports for Renal Network,
nephrologists and unit management.Perform general office duties
including answering and directing phone calls, sorting and
distributing mail, copying and filing, typing monthly meeting
minutes, correspondence, and reports to the administrative
staff.Maintain up-to-date and accurate insurance cards on all
patients.Complete the MSPQ Insurance reports quarterly with all
dialysis patients.Assist staff on the clinic floor performing by
pre- and post-weights and vital signs, and documenting this
information in the medical record.Follow-up with monthly payment
agreements with patients on self-pay balances and insurance premium
advances.Identify, generate, and prepare requisitions and lab
specimen tubes for lab collection per physician orders. Follow-up
laboratory questions and problems related to specimen handling and
requisition process.Order, maintain, and re-stock lab
supplies.Communicate with Firelands Regional Medical Center and NBA
billing representatives regarding billing issues including dates
and current status of all patient applications for coverage.Fax all
requested information to accounting departments with patient
signatures.Obtain insurance and pre-certifications referrals from
physicians when needed.Maintain unit and order all supplies
including food, paper products, and office supplies.Communicate in
a professional manner with peers, health team members, patients and
visitors.Maintain adaptability, flexibility, and positive attitude,
and support the unit team.Report problems and assist in resolving
them. Assist in orientation of new staff and clerical
duties.Communicate messages to appropriate person accurately and
professionally.What You Will Need:Must be a high school
graduate.Previous hospital experience preferred.Must possess a
valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be
insurable under Firelands' auto policy.Employee must provide proof
of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon
request.Previous clerical experience preferred; typing required at
50 wpm.Computer skills with knowledge of word processing, Microsoft
Word and Excel. Become proficient in MIQS, the dialysis management
software.Punctual attendance at assigned work location is
required.Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and
maintain an accident free work place, including ability to
demonstrate a working knowledge of Medical Center emergency
